Veterans' Day

Today is Veterans' Day.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all those military veterans who have served their country.

Speaking as a veteran myself, no matter when or how you served, I appreciate the sacrifices you made, the hardships you faced and the pain you endured to contribute to the freedom of us being able to be here today and enjoy the benefits of this marvelous country. No task is too small when it contributes to our freedom.

As much as we like to argue among ourselves, that argument is only because we care about this country and want to make it better. The fact is that this is still the country that everyone else wants to come to. You won't find anyone saying, "If I could just get to Somalia, everything would be all right."

So thanks again for providing the shield behind which all that arguing and discussing can take place.

To those in harm's way today, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Keep your powder dry and come home safe to us.
