Senator Dodd and Leadership
We are unsure why the candidacy of Senator Chris Dodd seems to have so little traction in the polls. His recent filibuster of a bill that would have given amnesty to telecom companies who provided monitoring access of Americans without proper authority may give him a boost.
While our position for this coming election cycle is clear for the Republican Party's candidates, we continue to attempt to be open to all alternative candidates save Hillary Clinton.
In the interest of providing data to our readers they may find helpful in choosing a candidate, we offer this link to an article from The Nation by Ari Berman. The commentary is as interesting as the article.
Keep this in mind as you read the article. (You may also want to see an earlier entry about one of Bill Moyers' shows in which he interviewed Constitutional scholars.) This President has established new precedents regarding disregarding the limits of executive power. The fact that he appears to be going to finish his term without impeachment or censure of any kind enables the next President (Republican or Democrat) to indulge in those same abuses if they choose. The fact that Dodd so categorically rejects continuing those abuses is one of the reasons to take another look at him as a candidate.
