New Hampshire Paper Says, Romney "Must Be Stopped"
Living in Nebraska, we're more likely to hear about what's going on in Iowa.
This newspaper editorial from New Hampshire reported by CNN captures many of the reservations about Mr. Romney that we have ourselves.
Mr. Romney would be a more appealing candidate were he not altering his beliefs to appeal to a vocal minority within the Republican party. Republicans must deal with that minority and its negative impact on their broad appeal to the population as a whole if they wish to win elections and truly become a dominant party.
We think, unfortunately, that Republicans will not face this reality and make this adjustment until they suffer a major defeat.
That is why we are urging independent moderate voters in this election to vote against Republican candidates for national office.

Interesting. Of course, this is the season when ALL politicians are trying to appeal to their bases. Is it possible that presenting this issue from this liberal viewpoint is an example of polarized politics?
It is always wise to consider the source. Here are the last two paragraphs of the article. "The Monitor's editorial board is regarded as a liberal one on many issues, so it is not surprising that they would criticize Gov. Romney for his conservative views and platform."
"Gov. Romney has taken firm positions that are at odds with the board's support for drivers licenses for illegal immigrants, their position against school choice and their advocacy for taking 'Under God' out of the Pledge of Allegiance. The governor happens to disagree with them on all those issues."
