From USA Today: The Gospel of Money

I was going through a USA Today I picked up on my trip last week and came across this article.

I've attached a link to a reprint of it I found through Google.

The dictionary defines kickback as "1. bribe: a sum of money paid illegally in order to gain concessions or favors"

Let's see. Evangelical preachers get their flocks to vote for one party's candidates over the other's. Not only does the minister and their church bring in lots of money to fight the heathen in the other party, but when the favored party wins, then Federal monies are directed to "faith-based initiatives". Hmmm.

The article takes care to point out that not all evangelicals are caught up the "gospel of prosperity". I'm glad to see that. I think it's also worthwhile to remember that Jesus said that there would be many false prophets after him. Jesus also said that you could determine the false prophets. "By their fruits ye shall know them." I'm an amateur on the Bible, but those seem like some telling words to me.

Here's the link.
