If you are age 45+, it's time to start being very concerned and watchful. One of the solutions that can be tried in these circumstances is to put the government printing presses to work to put out money the so called stimulus package, as well as paying down debt. That can spark something called runaway inflation. Inflation in the money supply deflates the value of your money, particularly if you have that money in so-called fixed investments. That means the buying power of your savings goes down. The older you are, the harder it is to re-coup those losses.
