McCain's GOP: Big Tent or Badly Fractured--Washington Post
Interesting article from the Washington Post about the electability of John McCain.
Reminds me of the sports commentary that goes on in big league cities. Lots of radio shows in the home town of a sports team will wave the crying towel about what a bunch of losers their team is, even if the view outside the city is that they have a good team.
The article does again state our own personal view that the nomination of Hillary Clinton will bring people out of the woodwork to vote against her. Remember one of the cardinal rules of politics. People do not vote for something. They vote against something and the prime motivators are fear, greed and prejudice.
I had dinner with some close acquaintenances last night. One lives in a rural community and reported to me the unreasoning, hate-filled, knee jerk statements she has heard about the potential of a Clinton Presidency.
As I have said before and will say again. This election needs to be preceded by an open minded logical discussion of where this country needs to go from 2009 on. I fear the nomination of Hillary Clinton will close too many minds and keep this country from having that discussion.
