Vermont considers lowering drinking age
I see that Vermont is considering lowering the drinking age as a means of combatting binge drinking.
I say good for them. I am one of those who thinks that if you are old enough to carry a rifle and kill or be killed, then you are old enough to order a beer at a bar. Besides, why shouldn't they have to pay $6-7 a drink like the rest of us.
What goes with that is that parents need to be allowed to teach their children to drink in the home without fear of civil or criminal penalty within the bounds of normal laws. In other words, don't let somebody get drunk in your house and then drive. We teach our kids about driving and firearms and other adult things, why not drinking?
Here's an article about Vermont's proposal.
