Jeremy Scahill: Obama's Mercenary Position
If you're getting the feeling today that I'm catching up after a steady stream of radio interviews, then you would be right. I have several things that I held back until I had time to post and comment on them.
I'm posting this for two reasons.
First, I like Jeremy Scahill and the work he has done to expose the use of mercenaries by our government.
Second, I think the commentary after the article is very revealing. What you find is a back and forth exchange between people who (protestations by "conservatives" to the contrary) think that Obama is not "liberal" enough and so-called "progressives" who seem to have more of a centrist view of themselves.
Overall, I find too many of these kind of debates are based on a slanted view of an imperialist America. Their remarks reflect the outlook of people who want to be in charge, but are unwilling or unable to confront the realities of the consequences of being in charge.
See the article for yourself.
