Concord Coalition: Taking Back Our Fiscal Future
Here is the latest email communication from the Concord Coalition. Doesn't the name resonate with you more now that the John Adams series is playing on HBO?
The Concord Coalition would like to draw your attention to a new paper co-authored by Concord's Executive Director Robert Bixby. "Taking Back Our Fiscal Future" is a paper from 16 leading economists and federal budget policy experts recommending a change in the budgeting process for Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. The paper was released this morning at the National Press Club. Instead of allowing Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security to grow automatically each year, the paper proposes a process reform that would require Congress and the President to establish long-term budgets for these three programs, regularly review them to determine whether they remain within budgeted amounts, and provide adjustment triggers to be automatically enacted if nothing is done. Thank you for your continued interest in The Concord Coalition.
