Virtual Fence System Fails to Perform

Buried behind the front pages is the news that virtual Border Fence System isn't working. Having worked in military procurement, I can only imagine the goat rope that has been going on behind the scenes.

I liked what Jesse Ventura had to say about this on Larry King (see my entry "Has Jesse Ventura Been Reading My Blog" or go to my YouTube page). Jesse says fences not only keep people out, they keep people in.

One of my aunts and uncles owned a jewelry store. The store was burglarized a couple of times before they finally got an alarm system sophisticated enough to defeat/deter the theives. What I learned was that if a human builds an obstacle, then a human (given time and opportunity) can defeat it.

If you really want to stop illegal crossings, then you need extensive manpower postioned 24/7/365. The cost of that would be shocking to most people. The question is whether the cost of the cure is worse than the cost of the disease.

Here's a link to one article about the Virtual Fence Failure.
