NY Times: Soldier Sues Army, Says Atheism Led to Threats

If the officer's comments in this article are true, then they are disturbing on three levels.

First, the officer is promoting religion as a command preference, which is wholely unacceptable.

Second, the officer is demonstrating an opinion of the authors of the constitution which those authors did not have, but which is being promoted as the truth through a deliberate misinformation campaign to Christian believers. (See the Resources page on my web site for several books related to this phenomenon.)

Third, is this officer's views a reflection of those of his superiors? And how are those views affecting the interactions of his soldiers with the populace of another country where the dominant religion is not Christian, but Muslim.

The article also mentions Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. Here is a link to their web site. According to the web site, Weinstein will be CBS Sunday Morning this Sunday, April 27.
