NY Times: McCain, Iraq War and the threat of "Al Qeada"

There is much more to that insurgency than just "Al Qaeda". If Al Qaeda is no longer a threat to take over Iraq and make it a Nation State opposed to the US, then what are the tasks that keep us in Iraq?
