NY Times: Republicans Crossing Over to Vote in Democratic Contests

The NY Times explores in depth a topic we have explored before, the shifting of Republican voters to Democratic primary contests.

Personally, I am in favor of a set of Presidential primaries clustered geographically in groups of 6-10 states each. Have two weeks between group of states. That would minimize travel expense, but allow enough time for the candidates to be in the states. Some states like California are so big and populous you could consider having by themselves. I would like to see both parties award delegates proportionally by percentage of vote within the state rather than winner take all. That would discourage poaching by one party into another. Just some basic thoughts.
