NY Times: US ReMakes Jails in Iraq, But Gains Are at Risk
I was interested in this article for several reasons.
First, one of the little talked about reasons for whatever success we had with the so-called "Surge" was the detention of thousands of Iraqis. A wide net was cast, but how many of those caught were legitimate troublemakers and how many were innoncents now converted to our enemies?
Second, what are we doing to counter the insurgency with our detention policies? To our credit, we seem to be on the right path in that regard.
