Frank Rich: Do Angry Clinton Women Love McCain
Frank Rich comments on the theory that Clinton voters will abandon the Democratic candidate for Senator McCain. I particularly found this section interesting.
"The conservative hostility toward McCain heralded by the early attacks of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and James Dobson is proliferating. Bay Buchanan, the party activist who endorsed Mitt Romney, wrote this month that Mr. McCain is “incapable of energizing his party, brings no new people to the polls” and “has a personality that is best kept under wraps.”"
I found this interesting because I was listening to Rush Limbaugh Friday in my car. Limbaugh played a recording of McCain talking at a town hall meeting. The gist of McCain's remarks was that he was suspicious of the profits the oil companies were making. The tape ended and Rush fumed for several minutes hitting the table top until he finally exclaimed something to the effect of, "Would somebody please get someone to explain economics to him?!"
One of the things I discuss in my talks is the possibility of the formulation of a third party or of one of the two major parties excluding a significant portion of its usual affiliates in order to attract a new segment of affiliates. One can speculate on whether that is what is happening here.
Cementing that thought is another part of the article discussing the Ron Paul rally that is being planned for during the Republican convention.
