"Mandatory" Rules Apply--Until They Don't

One of the things I find revolting is "Do as I say and not as I do leadership." If you're going to tell me that I have to live according to a set of rules, then you had damn well be willing to show me that you're willing to live by those rules, too. If you're not, then you lose credibility with me. And if you lose credibility with me, then you're going to have a hard time getting me to follow you.

In that vein, here is an excellent article by COL Steve Strobridge, USAF Retired on the fiscal responsibility practices of our government. The article is from the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) web site.

Let me give a quick plug to MOAA. This organization is one of the most effective and efficient advocates for veterans and their concerns there is. Membership is open to all military officers, former, active duty, National Guard and Army Reserve. I particularly want to emphasize the status of "former" officer. You didn't have to make the military a career to be a member.

Back to the article. The issues Strobridge discusses are not just military ones. Lack of following our own rules is one of the reasons this nation is over $9 Trillion in debt.

Here's a link to the article.
