Ron Suskind: The Way of the World

What a turnaround. Yesterday I'm writing about how dull the news has been lately. This morning a news bomb goes off. Today is the first day that Ron Suskind's new book, The Way of the World, is on book shelves. I by chance passed by the TV and saw Suskind on the Today show. In fact, you can expect to see Suskind on the tube a lot for the next two weeks.

To explain why there's all the flap about this book, I want to revisit an earlier posting of mine. I started to link you to it, but then discovered I had to deactivate it. I'll see if I can repost it for you. The essential piece I want to note is this. There are three key objectives to defeating Al Qaeda.

    1) Deny Al Qaeda access to WMD, especially nuclear.
    2) Deny Al Qaeda control of a Nation State
    3) Eliminate the conditions that serve as a breeding ground for the appeal of Al Qaeda.

What Suskind's book alleges is the war in Iraq was sold by the Bush Administration to the American Public by creating a false assertion that an alliance between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein's Iraq existed to put Al Qaeda on the fast track to achieve conditions 1 and 2. If those allegations are true, then an impeachable offense has likely been committed.

I've got a link to The Today Show from today. I also suggest you watch Countdown from tonight. Olbermann has an interview with Suskind and also with John Dean discussing the charges members of the Bush Administration might be vulnerable to.

Hold on tight. We may have an Impeachment proceeding to go with our Presidential Election this Fall.

Here's the link.
