Introducing "Hear My Thunder"

I recently discovered another Kindred Mind out there on the web.

Gary Wood is the co-Founder of www.HearMyThunder.org as well as the host of an Internet radio show through Blog Talk Radio called the March of Liberty Show.  Here's the link to the actual show site or you can access it at HMT.

Gary is also an aspiring author. He’s working on a book now with the working title of "1913 - The Death of the Federalist Republic: Who Dare Wake the Dead?"

I’m adding Hear My Thunder to my list of favorite sites today. I also wanted to share the highlights of a conversation Gary and I had recently.

Larry: Gary, where are you located?

Gary: In Salt Lake City. I’ve lived several places across the country working for the Air Force and this is where I’ve decided to settle in.

Larry: How long have you had your site up?

Gary: We’ve had the Blog up since last October and we started the radio program in February this year.

Larry: Tell me what motivated you to do what you’re doing.

Gary: I see us as a country at being at one of the most critical junctions in our history. We can go in a couple of different directions in the next few years and if we don’t pick the right one then we’re going to be in even more trouble than we are now. So, what I’m trying to achieve is education through conversation so more people will make the right choices politically.

Larry: You and I are on the same page that way. I consider my book to be a Seven Habits of Highly Effective People politically. In other words, when Covey wrote Seven Habits he was trying to help people have more efficient and effective personal lives. I’m trying to help them have more efficient and effective political lives as citizens and voters. What do you think of the two Presidential candidates?

Gary: I don’t think either of them is very good and I don’t think they will be able to stop the train wreck we’re headed for.

Larry: What do you think the main problems are?

Gary: I think people are tired of hearing me talk about it on the radio, but you have to repeat your message until people get it. I keep harping on what I call the Shadow Government we are being subjected to. We must break the grip of the two parties we have now, because they are simply not helping us break out of the problems we have. The overall system is broken. We send new people into that system with the best intentions and the system just eats them up.

Larry: Once again, you and I are on the same page. When I give talks, I often mention Edward Deming. Deming is the man who taught the Japanese statistical quality control in manufacturing. Deming would do an exercise in the seminars he did with a big tub of different colored and sized marbles and a paddle with holes drilled in it. You would pass the paddle through the tub and harvest some marbles, then record the results. The bottom line to the exercise was that you could do all the exhortations, threats and chants you wanted as management. You weren’t going to change your results until you changed your system. We’re in the same position politically. Until we change our political system we voters (who are the managers of our political system, not the politicians. We hire the politicians who are supposed to then work for us to run our government) will continue to get the same lousy results we’re getting now.

Gary: Deming was a really smart guy. Amazing how his ideas were at first rejected here in the US, but once he had the success he had in Japan, everyone was clamoring for him. That’s another reason I got upset enough to do what I’m doing. I was an Air Force Management Engineer. That makes me part Industrial Engineer and part Management Consultant. I’m always looking at systems and processes and trying to make them better. That’s part of the reason I get so upset with government. It’s so inefficient.

Larry: Who do you have on your radio shows?

Gary: This coming Sunday, August 10, I’m going to have Bill Walker, the Co-Founder of the Friends of the Article V Convention. On August 17, my guest will be Darryl Perry. Darryl is the author of 1776 & Today: Why We Need a New American Revolution. I’d like to have you on.  How about Sunday, August 24 at 7:00 pm EST?

Larry: I can do that. One thing I would like to talk about on your show would be Instant Runoff Voting. That is the thing I believe will break the hold of the duopoly of the Republicans and Democrats. It will force them onto a level playing field and confront them with the real threat that they may not make the playoffs, electorally speaking. It will also result in stronger representation by third parties in the legislative bodies. Just think of some the things we could have either avoided or achieved in the last 20 years if 20% or more of the legislatures had been third party members. But we can talk more in detail on your show.

Gary: That sounds great. I’ll let the people coming to my Blog know about you.

Larry: And I’ll do the same with mine. The more intelligent discussion we can generate, the better.

See Gary’s site at www.HearMyThunder.org.
