Obama Interview with Bill O'Reilly

Here is the actual interview between O'Reilly and Obama.

O'Reilly is very heavy into questioning Obama about National Defense.

There is also a link to a Los Angeles Times article about the interview. One of the comments is about when O'Reilly asks Obama why he can't admit he was wrong about the Surge.

Obama's response is OK, but it would be better if he knew or could better articulate the secret factor I've referred to in earlier Blogs.

For Obama and every other Democratic candidate, the charge they are going to keep hearing until they learn and use the secret factor will be this. Republicans will say, "If you had listened to Democrats in 2007, then we would not have had the Surge. And if we hadn't had the Surge, then we would not have the progress we have in Iraq. So, given that fact, do you want to trust Democrats with National Defense."

This is just like football or boxing. If you can't defend a play or a punch, then your opponent will keep throwing the play or the punch at you until you're beaten into submission. Ipso facto, wring out the mopo.

By the way, when you know the secret factor, you know that the Republican charge is at best misleading and at worse false.

Here's the two links. First the YouTube video.

In the Bill Oreilly interview of Barack Obama, regarding the discussion
about Obama's energy plan, in response to Bill asking
Barack, what if the development of alternate energy
sources don't deliver. Obama compared his approach
to John Kennedy's space program, and how if you go
for it , the answers will come. But, the distinction between
our space program and our energy challenge is ... If had taken
us longer than we thought to get to the moon ... or, if we hadn't
gotten to the moon ... no big deal. But, if we put all our hopes
into alternative energy, and it doesn't happen in time ... or, if
it doesn't work, our entire economy, as well as our national
security could end up in ruins. This is an important reason to
secure our energy needs with oil drilling and mining oil shale,
while we try to develop alternate energy. Obama seems to be
playing fast and loose with our country's future ... gambling
with our future, all based on hope and faith ... with consequences
which could be dire. Obama's plans, or lack thereof are
extremely irresponsible. Not suprising from a candidate who
does not have the experience or qualifications to lead, as
President of the United States of America.

    2. A “Use it or Lose It” Approach to Existing Oil and Gas Leases.

Obama and Biden will require oil companies to develop the 68 million acres of land (over 40 million of which are offshore) which they have already leased and are not drilling on.

    3. Promote the Responsible Domestic Production of Oil and Natural Gas.

An Obama-Biden administration will establish a process for early identification of any infrastructure obstacles/shortages or possible federal permitting process delays to drilling in the Bakken Shale formation, the Barnett shale formation, and the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska.

    4. As to his "experience and qualifications to lead", I think you might do well to remember the fact that the two people currently serving as President and VP on paper had all the qualifications desired to do the job. What are the results that experience has brought us?

         Record Gas Prices
         Highest inflation in 17 years.
Near crash of our financial markets
         Highest national debt ever.

So maybe this time we shouldn't focus so much on supposed experience and more on what political philosophy will be used to govern with. The one being used now is the one McCain intends to use.
