What Now?
The thought occurs to me about you readers might expect from this Blog with the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States.
I have not commented that much about the election itself. Several things happened that really upset me and I didn't want to write without control over my emotions. My control is back and I already have the next three Weekly Ezine topics ready to be written.
Overall, you can expect the same focus on the same goals, principles and outcomes I have been advocating.
In case you've forgotten, that focus is on having a government provide social tolerance, fiscal prudence and limited government with the most robust national defense possible.
My goal is to provide a dispassionate analysis of the Obama Administration's performance compared to those standards. I will explore other questions as well.
Meanwhile, you may note that I added a new favorite to the favorite lists. Conservative Oasis takes a hard right approach. I don't agree with most of their positions, but I want you readers to have an example of what's being said from that perspective.
Overall, the election may be over, but the issues the candidates debated still await solutions. We face a tumultous and challenging time requiring the best of all of us. Stay with us for the ride as we seek those solutions.

I want to thank Larry for linking the site. I also want to clarify to people that very very often what I say on the site is intended to poke people HARD in the eye... and while things might appear to come across "racist", I most assuredly am not.
I try to make that clear when I make the posts I pen.
I am moderate right, but I do fight hard and appear quite partisan. However, when I am (rarely) in the company of respectful and highly informed left/center left people, I very much enjoy and respect their conversation and input. NOTHING tops an informed well thought out position, as long as it is presented respectfully. Even if it is an opinion opposite of mine.

RB,
That's what we need more of, respectful and thoughtful conversation.
The ability to have those conversations begins with a common understanding of terms and concepts. This election convinces me more than ever these qualities are lacking. My book is intended to give people this common understanding so we can have these kinds of discussions.
I'll appreciate your comments as we go forward.

Larry,
Here is what you wrote in this post just after the election:
"In case you've forgotten, that focus is on having a government provide social tolerance, fiscal prudence and limited government with the most robust national defense possible.
My goal is to provide a dispassionate analysis of the Obama Administration's performance compared to those standards."
Since then, I have seem several postings here on how the GOP is doing, but analysis of the Obama Administration has been strikingly absent here. Do you plan to continue that policy?

Hi, Jim
Thanks for your comments, as always.
It's hard to have a dispassionate analysis when both sides (and especially Republicans) continue to divert the discussion using the emotional tactics I describe in my Ezine #53.
I guess my first instinct was to shoot the target I considered the most dangerous first. Based on a revelation I had from reading something non-political, I have seen that target as the lack of objective, dispassionate dialogue from Republicans.
If there's something in particular you would like to make commentary on, I would be happy to hear it.
Thanks again,
Larry

But Larry,
It seems to me that the point in objective analysis is to cut through the partisan, and emotional, rhetoric to get to the facts of what is really going on.
Let's not blame one side or the other for a lack of objective dialogue. We can't expect politicians, partisans, and political parties to be objective. The trick is to find the truth in spite of that.
If we try to analyze the current Administration, what difference does it make what Limbaugh or Hannity are saying? The question should be what is actually going on.
On the other hand, if the adminstration talks about Rush Limbaugh as the head of the GOP, or Jon Stewart tangles with Jim Cramer, so what? What does that have to do with how the government is being operated?
If you want to talk about the Obama Administration as you described in November, here are some suggested topics:
On fiscal prudence, we heard a lot about eight years of uncontrolled spending. How is the current administration doing in comparison?
On a robust national defense, how is that going?
On limiting the size of government, what does this administration plan?
On creating a post-partisan governing philosophy, how is that going?
Just some concerns bouncing around in my head.

Larry,
Two and a half years ago, just after the 2008 election, you wrote here about your goal to provide dispassionate analysis of the new administration. You spoke of your goals in terms of social tolerance, fiscal prudence, limited government and a robust national defense.
In March of 2009, I wondered if you had abandoned that goal, and asked some questions. Since then, I have seen very little objective analysis of the current administration on this blog.
I would appreciate any analysis you may wish to provide on how the current administration is performing.

Hello, Jim
You always ask provocative questions.
I disagree that we are not providing objective analysis, but doing a mid term review based on the principles, rather than current events could be useful. I have some other deadlines I have to meet, so I won't be back with you today, but surely in the next week.
I invite others to comment.
Have a great day.
Larry

Ok, Jim, I have a little more time now.
What is it you think you should be reading here you are not reading?
