NY Times--US Details $800 Billion Loan Plan

Have you ever drank a straight shot of whiskey? Invigorating, isn't it? When Buffalo Bill Cody and General Phil Sheridan took the Arch Duke of Prussia on a buffalo hunt, they are said to have introduced the Duke to the cowboy custom of a shot of bourbon before breakfast. They described the sensation as, "More refreshing than brushing your teeth."

Anyway, what happens when you add a mixer to the shot of whiskey or bourbon? Dilutes the effect, doesn't it? The more mixer you add, the lesser the impact of the liquor.

I mention this because the same thing happens to the value of our money when the Federal Government prints more money and puts it in circulation. The value of the money is diluted.

Now check out this quote from a NY Times article.

"The new actions are unlikely to be the last. Until the economy begins to turn around, Fed officials have made it clear they are prepared to print as much money as needed to jump-start lending, consumer spending, home buying and investment."
