What We Say about Our Presidents

In some of the comments lately we've been discussing criticism of George Bush and how unreasoning and vilifying it has been.

I participate in the Amazon.com forums from time to time. Here is one of the postings from a discussion of America's conducts of it's wars that's relevant to the topic.

L R Bradley: I have said consistantly since the Iraq2 war started, a draft would have brought out tens of thousands of protesters and ended the war.
It is difficult for a volunteers parents' to demonstrate as that would be an admission that the service person died for nothing, and presumably their own fault for enlisting.
Our gov't has a complete understanding of this, and hence 90% of Bush's speeches were to servicemen and or Veterans. One is dissallowed from objection, the other afraid to be labeled anti-service. [which the republicans used effectively against ordinary americans.]

Consider the following, during war :
1".the President is a jerk"
2".the President is both small and illegitimate"
3."the President has squandered american credibility"
4".the President is king of spin"
5."the President does not have the divine right of a king"
5.the president looks like a small man in a big office
6."I am dismayed that so many feel free to engage in partisan attacks on the Commander in Chief in the midst of war"

So who made these remaks, my fellow Posters? WHO INDEED?

No, it was not Democrats, rather it was Republicans during our 77 day war in Kosovo, with US casualties, nil!

The following hypocrits who attack fellow Americans for voicing their opinions during our current wars, calling us "traitors" and "un-American", ARE
, and "not supporting our troops"
orinn hatch[repub. senator]
bob dornan [ repub. congressman}
jim baker[prior sec. of state]
tom delay[previous speaker of the house]
john ensign[nevada repub]

What disturbs me is the outright, and outrageous attacks the Republicans have bestowed upon the ordinary citizens of America, who have questioned our wars, or spoke against them. The above Repubs. attacked Bill Clinton, a sitting President during a war [albeit, a short one with few casualties] , with vitriolic vehemence, and then castigate us for our exercising our Constitutional right of free speech!

Surely this OUT-HERODS,HEROD!
