Military Religious Freedom Foundation

I experienced a significant shift in the Army between the time I got my commission in the early 70's and the early 80's with regard to social expectations. Drinking alcoholic beverages at the beginning was very much the measure of a man.

Then, in the early 80's, President Reagan appointed a new Chief of Staff. This Chief of Staff was known for frowning on drinking. Along with the the rest of the country, drinking and driving became an uncool thing to do. One of the other things I began to observe at the time was the emergence of an emphasis on religious conformity, especially in the officer corps.

Apparently, in the time since I have left the military, this emphasis on piety and religious conformity has mushroomed into the force and even the Academies. This all accoding to Mikey Weinstein and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.

I have a link on the Blog to the Foundation's web site but I haven't posted about them for a while. This week's Ezine from Mikey contains an interview I think is important for you to read. Dominionists not only threaten the military, they threaten the other branches of government, as well as the Constitution itself.

Here's a link to the interview.
