Frank Rich: Has a "Katrina" Moment Arrived
As I wrote earlier, I have some pressing concerns taking my time and temporarily keeping me from looking at current events in the way I would like.
Nevertheless, I think Frank Rich does an excellent job of analyzing some of the questions regarding the situation with the banks, AIG and the Bailouts. To me, the bottom line is this. Any President in this situation must take the actions needed to establish and maintain credibility. Achieving this is made more difficult when the players themselves lack credibility.
On the one hand, you want players who have played the game and, therefore, understand that game. On the other hand, when your players used to play for the other team for profit, how do you know those players are playing for the benefit of the general public or their former team.
I heard someone with a great deal of experience in the game vouch for Obama's players recently as being highly competent. Let's see if they prove that competence with what they do. There is supposed to be a new aspect of the plan released today. The plan may provide more evidence one way or the other.
