David Sirota: One Percenters Launch Attack on Health Care

$140 Million per day is being spent to convince Americans the status quo in Health Care is OK. Ask yourself this. Who has $140 Million to spend on such a goal? And would those who have that money spend it if they weren't seriously concerned their gravy train was about to be taken away from them?

I haven't referred to David Cay Johnston's book, Free Lunch, in quite a while. Johnston conclusively demonstrates how the richest 1 percent (Johnston refers to them as the Political Donor Class) has used its political influence to make themselves richer and richer. The growth of their incomes over the last 30 years has gone up by literally 100s of percent. Meanwhile, the growth of the income of those who actually made their productivity gains in the economy possible, the botton 90%, have declined by 3%.

Keep these realities in mind as you read Sirota's article. Also keep these realities in mind.

We do not elect Kings. We elect a lead executive for the Federal Branch of government. That lead executive cannot do anything without the cooperation of the legislative branch.

The Political Donor Class has their hooks into the legislative branch on both side of the aisle.

If you want government that balances the interests of the Political Donor Class with everyone else, then you must largely get rid incumbents.

If you want to get rid of incumbents, then you (meaning a collective majority you of voters) must enable a third party to emerge with a focused agenda and you must fund that party.

Otherwise the insanity will continue.
