Health Insurance Reform--Not Health Care Reform
Tonight I was having my usual Sunday night conversation with my Mother. She told me about the son of one her (and my) long term friends. The son lives in California. First his wife lost her job and so the son moved her to his medical insurance. Then the son lost his job. Now neither has insurance.
As I explained to my Mother, when her friend's son does find a job, the job will likely come without medical insurance. The expense of the benefit has simply become prohibitive. That's just another reason we need Health Insurance Reform.
People are increasingly without insurance not because they don't want to work but because the dynamics of the marketplace have changed. One of the participants in the marketplace has gained an unfair advantage. The one with the authority to re-balance the rules of commerce is our democratically elected government.
