Firing Blackwater
For those of you wondering when I was going to make an overtly critical comment about the Obama Administration, your day has come.
I'm going to echo what Jeremy Scahill is saying. When are are we going to fire Blackwater and other companies like Blackwater? Using Blackwater means we are fighting our wars at retail cost, not wholesale.
As Scahill points out, there are more Blackwater mercenaries in Afghanistan today than there are uniformed military. We are paying those mercenaries significantly more than soldiers.
Making the move from the mercenaries to soldiers will be a long term process, but it must begin. Why so slow? Because the alternative is to start the Draft again and neither political party wants to be the one making the proposal.
Here's a link. See Scahill's other articles, too. Apparently, the head of Blackwater is accused of some murder for hire schemes.
