David Sirota Column on Military Budgets
The following is a link to David Sirota's latest column about miltary budgets.
I still assert our problem is not how much money we spend on defense. Our problem is how little of our treasure we put at risk.
That comes from the part of the Bible that says (more or less, I don't claim to be an expert on the Bible), "Where your heart is, so is your treasure."
To me, that means what you treasure is the people and things you love. You don't (or shouldn't) love your money. And right now we're fighting a war where the people we love are largely not at risk. We're letting the other 99% of the population assume the risk for us (for money. which is why we're spending so much.)
Let's put our treasure at risk and see how innovative we can become with solutions.
