David Sirota--Verifiers Are Not Verifying
In his latest column, David Sirota points out very well the people and organizations we are trusting to verify the data we get are not the unbiased sources we think they are.
This is, again, part of the problem with a revolving door system. A civil service system was designed to keep undue influence on the various government processes. The referees, if you will, were supposed to be separate from the players. The referees were not to be drawn from the active rosters of the players themselves and then return to the field as players after a brief period of referees.
Unfortunately, we have devolved into exactly that sort of system, in my opinion.
