Paul Ryan--Fix Health Reform, Then Repeal It

In the interest of balance, I'm going to post this oped from the NY Times by Republican Paul Ryan. I am interested in some of his proposals, but note that he never truly addresses what he would do about pre-existing conditions. Those of you who read me often should be able to easily see the flaws here.

For example, Ryan writes, "Yet the Congressional majority went at this goal backward: with the force of the federal government, cover all Americans — then figure out which screws to twist to contain costs. Democrats opted for this approach because their concern was never about costs. It was about expanding coverage through an expansion of government."

No Congressman, it was about re-writing the rules to balance the interests between all the players in health care--Health care providers like doctors, nurses, hospitals and clinics, drug companies, health insurance companies, the state and federal governments and (of course) consumers of health care.
