What Lies Ahead for the 2010 Elections

I am posting articles discussing how passage of the health care reform legislation is likely to affect the upcoming 2010 Congressional elections. One is an oped by pollster Stanley B. Greenberg. The other is straight news reporting. Both offer insights into how Democrats and Republicans will debate the issue during this election cycle.

Here are links to the two articles.

When I read, or hear, political analysis, I usually try to decide the point of view of the writer or speaker. If I know that person's point of view, I can evaluate the piece better.

Part of that is to evaluate a previous viewpoint to determine the accuracy of that opinion. If someone missed the point in the past, they could well be off the mark today. A little bit of "consider the source".

On or near the second anniversary of the passing of the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, it is interesting to compare what was predicted then with what really happened.

I read an article this morning in the left-leaning POLITICO. The article was about false assumptions by the left two years ago. It was titled "5 Things Dems Got Wrong on Health Care". Then I read another article, more right-leaning, about the current situation. I include these two articles later.

If I were instructing a class in critical thinking, I would suggest that a person read the POLITICO article about the Dem false assumptions, and then find examples of those false assumptions in the N Y Times articles by Greenberg and Nagourney.

Garbage in, garbage out comes to mind.

    Just my opinion.
